This is a plate. It is smooth all ove, however, only half is shiny. The plate is glazed in matte turquoise, and half of the project was dipped in clear to give it a shine. The difference in shines in the glazes gives the simple plate some complexity.

This is a small vase. It has a smooth surface. It is glazed in celedon. There are also flowers stained on the project upside down from the lip.  The upside down flowers create the effect of an optical illusion because they are growing down from the lip rather than growing up from the base.  

This is a small cup. The handle is twisted from its normal shape. The texture is smooth except for one place on the lip where a crack was cemented. The whole cup is glazed in blue. The simple glaze accents the uniquity of the handle. The glaze does not deter the eye from the cup's shape with designs or stain.
